Why are my rates so high? Does the Condition of Florida contribute any financing for this program?
The Share gets no state financing. The Pool's law, Ch. 1506 of the Florida Insurance plan Code, needs Share top quality prices to be set at twice the prices billed in the commercial insurance industry. Even with higher top quality prices, the rates paid by Share associates are not enough to protect the healthcare and drugstore statements the Share pays for its associates. The additional financing is offered by wellness insurance protection organizations in Florida who, by state guiidelines, are required to protect the Pool's net loss. This assessment on healthcare insurance providers is allocated among the organizations depending on their share of the Florida wellness insurance protection industry. This year, for example, the Share assessed wellness insurance providers $165,000,000.
